1.     I’VE NEVER TAKEN A CYCLING OR SPIN CLASS - WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT? 

You can expect a high-energy environment with positive instructors that will motivate you like no other workout! We love beginners and our classes are accommodating to new as well as experienced riders because you control the intensity. On your first visit, our friendly staff will show you around, help you get clipped in and answer any questions you might have.  We have two ride types - Joule Ride and Performance Ride. Joule ride is a rhythm-based class with choreography, and Performance is a profile-driven class aimed at achieving specific power, speed and endurance goals.  Beware, these classes are addicting! 

2.     EXACTLY HOW HOT IS IT GOING TO BE IN THAT YOGA STUDIO? 

Each of our class descriptions will tell you the temperature goal of each class.  The true hot style class is designed to be 105 degrees, however some of our classes are much lower temperature.  The benefit of practicing yoga in a heated room has been documented widely, and most people tolerate the heat well.  That said, if you ever become dizzy, light-headed, or nauseous in class, you are welcome to come down to the floor in Savasana. Let an instructor know if you’re not feeling well.  At Joule, we believe in Safety First!  

3.     DO I HAVE TO BE IN GREAT SHAPE TO PARTICIPATE IN AN INDOOR CYCLING, HOT YOGA OR TRX CLASS? 

We have all levels of participants at Joule Studios and love beginners! We have some who like to push the intensity, and some who are here to enjoy the positive energy that comes from being in a group workout.  Our classes are challenging, but YOU get to control the intensity of the workout by adding or taking off resistance on the bike, finding variations in the intensity of the poses, etc.

4.     HOW MANY CALORIES WILL I BURN? 

This depends upon the class format, intensity, duration and body composition, but generally, around 400-500 calories for a 1-hour Hot Yoga class and 300-600 calories in a 1-hour Ride. 

5.     SHOULD I EAT BEFORE CLASS? 

We suggest you have a light snack approximately 30-60 minutes prior to your ride, or no less than 2 hours before yoga or TRX. Check our Facebook and Blog for tips from our instructors.

6.     WHAT KIND OF SHOES SHOULD I WEAR FOR CYCLING? 

Cycling shoes with SPD and Look cleats are required at Joule Studios.  Cycling shoes are provided free for your first visit, and are available for rent or sale after the first visit. Joule memberships come with free cycling shoe rental.

7.     WILL CYCLING, YOGA OR TRX CLASS MAKE ME BULK UP? 

No!  Cycling, yoga and TRX are extremely effective at reducing fat and toning the muscles in your body, not creating more bulk.

8.     How do I set my BIKE up? 

Our Schwinn Carbon Blue bikes are a cinch to adjust. Our staff will help you set up your bike on your first visit. Just remember your settings for the next time!

9.     CAN I TAKE TWO CLASSES IN A ROW, or two classes in the same day? 

The Joule schedule is set up to allow participants to take back to back classes if they choose.  However, you should always check in with your health care provider before starting any new activity, and intensity and frequency should be a part of that discussion.

10.  CAN I SHARE A PACKAGE WITH MY FRIEND?

Packages are not transferable.
